Global Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AER) Market Report

Posted: 22 Oct 2021 02:08 AM PDT

Dublin, October 22, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – The “Global Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AER) Market Growth Opportunities, 2021” the report was added to ResearchAndMarkets.com offer.

The global competitive landscape includes approximately 15 AER manufacturers who offer single-chamber and double / multi-chamber AERs. Apart from Olympus, which retreats its own brand of endoscopes, the majority of manufacturers offer AERs that can reprocess all types and models of endoscopes.

As the entire healthcare industry adapts to the changes brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the endoscope reprocessing industry is undergoing a major technological transformation. The increase in multiple outbreaks of contaminated endoscopes due to faulty endoscope reprocessing and manual cleaning errors presents enormous growth potential for Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AERs), which offer high-level disinfection. (HLD) in the reprocessing of endoscopes.

However, the complex design and faulty reprocessing of reusable endoscopes, especially duodenoscopes that pose the highest risk of cross-contamination of patients, has led to a gradual move towards single-use or disposable endoscopes that do not require reprocessing. Following the pandemic, governments are increasingly recommending endoscope manufacturers to simplify endoscope design or switch to disposable endoscopes, particularly in the United States.

The move to disposable endoscopes is also supported by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, which provides reimbursement for these endoscopes. Single-use duodenoscopes are preferred in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedures because they offer no risk of cross-contamination and no reprocessing, repair, maintenance and labor costs.

Major participants Boston Scientific and Ambu have already introduced single-use endoscopes. These pose a major threat to endoscope reprocessing stakeholders, especially AER manufacturers, as AERs could become obsolete. AER manufacturers are looking for ways to maintain or strengthen their market share in the endoscope reprocessing market.

More and more endoscopic interventions are performed outside of hospital premises in ambulatory surgery centers (ASC), ambulatory endoscopy centers (AEC), doctors’ own clinics, specialized gastrointestinal clinics and centers diagnostic. Unlike hospitals that have central waste rock supply departments (CSSDs) or reprocessing departments, these endoscopy facilities typically hire offsite reprocessing centers for HLD endoscopes.

Off-site reprocessing facilities have captured a substantial share of the end-user market for AERs, which can be categorized into two main segments: single-chamber AERs and dual / multi-chamber AERs. While dual / multi-chamber AREs remain the preference of hospitals and large-scale reprocessing facilities, single-chamber AREs are increasingly being installed in ACS and physician clinics.

The latest features of AERs, such as tracking and tracing and networking capabilities, asynchronous operation, and the built-in printer for cycle display, are driving the adoption of advanced AERs. As such, software solution providers could potentially enter the AER market to upgrade AERs with innovative software capabilities. Another growth opportunity in the market is the automation of the reprocessing workflow using robots in CSSDs and large-scale reprocessing facilities.

This research service provides an overview of the global market for AER and AER models. The North American and European markets are saturated with AERs from different manufacturers with distinct specifications. The European market has more AER replacement sales but fewer new AER installations, while the US market is gradually shifting to single-use endoscopes. On the other hand, markets outside these regions offer untapped growth opportunities for AER manufacturers. The study also compares the reprocessing of endoscopes and single-use endoscopes in terms of cost, efficiency, infection rate and facility volume.

Potential business models and strategies for AER manufacturers to grow in the industry are listed in the study, including effective collaborations with endoscope manufacturers, software solution providers, reprocessing stakeholders, third party service providers and offsite reprocessing facilities.

AER manufacturers can work with reprocessing stakeholders to offer bundles or discounted prices for AERs to expand the installation of AERs, while partnerships with endoscope manufacturers can lead to designs. improved endoscopes and additional disposable components. As regional AER participants dominate the market in developing countries with inexpensive and relatively efficient AERs, major global participants could pursue regional collaborations for geographic expansion and technological improvement.

If you’ve pretty much figured out that MySpace and Vine are a thing of the past, or Instagram’s timeline is no longer chronological, wait until you hear that Facebook is changing its name.

The edge reports that CEO Mark Zuckerberg is expected to discuss the name change at Facebook’s Connect conference on October 28, but that an announcement could come sooner.

It is believed that the name change would signal Zuckerberg’s wish for the company to lose its current reputation as a social media brand in favor of being known as a “metaverse” organization. Earlier this week, the organization announcement that it plans to create 10,000 new jobs across the European Union to help "build the metaverse".

In July, he also told the publication that several years from now, “we will effectively go from being a social media company to people who primarily see us as a metaverse company.”

What is it Actually means is guess anyone.

The move follows in the digital footsteps of several tech companies that have changed names in recent years, including Snapchat, which renamed itself Snapchat Inc. 2016 as a "camera company," rather than a platform for social media.

It is not known at this point what the new name of Facebook might be, but we are Following than open to welcoming guesswork. Spacebook, Faceworld, Facebook 2.0, Boaty McBook Face are all possible contenders (in our dreams).

Zuckerberg started the social media and social networking service in 2004 along with fellow Harvard students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes.

The 2021 Girls in Asia-Pacific report: voice, change and power – world

Posted: 20 Oct 2021 07:44 PM PDT

ABSTRACT

Since the signing of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015, countries around the world have committed to equitable and inclusive development for girls and young women.

Girls and young women across the Asia-Pacific region are participating in youth activism for gender equality.

Such efforts have proven successful in changing long-standing discriminatory gender attitudes and beliefs and ensuring that girls are better able to make their voices heard and develop their leadership capacities.

The 2021 Girls in Asia-Pacific Report details the ongoing work of young women’s activism for gender equality, social inclusion and the current state of girls’ leadership in the Asia-Pacific region. It also describes the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on youth-led activism efforts.

This year our research focused on girls’ leadership, specifically the area of political voice and representation depicted in Girl Leadership Indices in Asia and the Pacific. It also focused on past and present civic engagement efforts of girls and young women activists, catalysts for future civic engagement, and government responses to young women’s activism.

Our research found that girls’ and young women’s activists build their movements with a range of approaches, including working with boys and men; education strategies; self-awareness and connection with networks or coalitions of organizations.

Plan International collaborated with UTS-ISF to conduct research on girls’ activism and leadership across the Asia-Pacific region.

The research drew on primary and secondary data to produce a qualitative assessment of youth activism in the region.

Section 1 presents an overview and the objectives of our research.

Section 2 presents the main results gathered during this research. It is divided into two main parts: the results of the Girls ‘Leadership Indices in Asia and the Pacific (GLI) and the results of our research on civic engagement and girls’ activism for gender equality.

Section 3 presents the conclusions drawn from the results and how the Asia and Pacific GLIs can be used to support them.

Finally, section 4 presents a call to action for national governments, civil society and regional bodies in Asia and the Pacific to invest in adolescent girls.

The Asia and Pacific GLIs are composite indices that measure the opportunities of adolescent girls and young women to develop and demonstrate their leadership capacities.

The top three countries on the Asia index are Singapore (0.784), Thailand (0.733) and the Philippines (0.715), all of which are members of ASEAN.

The three lowest-ranked countries on the Asia index are Pakistan (0.392), Afghanistan (0.405) and Brunei Darussalam (0.462), with the top two countries being members of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation ( SAARC).

The top three countries on the Pacific Index are Australia (0.854), New Zealand (0.820) and Kiribati (0.643). The index values for Australia and New Zealand are considerably higher than those of the third-ranked country and those below, largely due to their high scores in all areas.

The three lowest ranked countries on the Pacific Index are Papua New Guinea (0.436), Marshall Islands (0.482) and Solomon Islands (0.529).

In our analysis of emerging trends in civic engagement and activism, we found mobilization in both invited and claimed spaces, including representation in spaces invited by government for political consultation.

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) also invite girls and young women activists to friendly spaces to develop their leadership skills and their voice. Girls and young women actively claimed spaces (such as public events, campaigns and press releases) to express their messages. Online spaces are also claimed for awareness and empowerment.

Key catalysts for successful gender equality activism included a positive rights-based approach and adults’ belief in the value of engaging with girls and young women’s advocates. Girls and young women need the support of family and friends, as well as friendly spaces for girls and young women to build trust and solidarity. Young activists have been most effective working in partnerships and coalitions with like-minded organizations, and they hope to create a diverse intergenerational movement for gender equality and social inclusion.

We have found that the successful digital activism of girls and young women is made possible by their rapid adoption of new digital technologies and their ease in interacting and creating content for social media sites. Activists have created safer and more inclusive digital spaces to build their movements and activists interacting online, often also connected “in real life” (offline).

Girls use their unique voice and experience to develop their leadership capacity and advocacy messages that support girls’ rights. By changing discriminatory attitudes and beliefs, girls will be better able to make their own choices and participate in decision-making processes, which will give them more opportunities to demonstrate leadership and find their own collective power. .

While girls’ civic engagement has made great strides in promoting gender equality, governments and civil society must do their part to help girls and young women develop and use their voice, choice and their power.

Posted: 20 Oct 2021 01:27 AM PDT

Woman Who Sexually Assaulted Two-Year-Old For The Purpose Of Making Money Online pedophiles was jailed for six years.

Abigail Kikke, 27, abused the little girl and distributed indecent pictures of children, including his assault victim.

Lord Sandison told Kikke in the High Court of Edinburgh Tuesday: "This court hears stories every day of very horrific behavior, often directed against vulnerable victims.

“Some cases, however, retain their ability to really shock and this one is one of them.”

The judge told Kikke that she would have been sentenced to nine years in prison had it not been for her guilty plea in the case.

Abigail Kikke

Lord Sandison said she would now be on the sex offender registry indefinitely after her conviction for the crimes.

Kikke, formerly of Alloa, had previously admitted to sexually assaulting the young child between March 18 and 26 last year at a house in Cumbernauld.

During the abuse, she committed a sexual act on herself and exposed herself to the little girl.

She also pleaded guilty to taking, possessing and distributing indecent photos of children, including her victim.

The court heard that on March 26, 2020, police received information that Kikke had used a social networking service, Kik Messenger, to spread an indecent image.

Kikke had sent a user a one-minute and 58-second video showing her naked with the child.

She was taken with 69 indecent images with her victim appearing in 11 still and moving images. Some images had been deleted.

Prosecutor Shanti Maguire said: "One of the images was sent by the accused to an internet user known as ‘Papa’.

Other images showed children as young as three or four years old.

She was also reportedly in contact with another Internet user known as “Hollow” who asked her to perform sexual acts on the girl.

Ms Maguire said: “She told ‘Hollow’ that she sent ‘daddy’ pictures of her and the girl and that he was prepared to pay her £ 4000.”

Unemployed Kikke claimed in a conversation that she is in debt, isolates herself and struggles with any human contact other than through her phone.

One of his online contacts claimed he was a successful stock trader who took him on vacation abroad.

During a conversation with another man, they spoke of children and was told that the user was “sexually aroused”.

Kikke sent her pictures of the girl as she received a picture of male and female children.

The prosecutor said: “The user has been identified as a 43-year-old man, Gary Smith, who lived in Wigan.”

He has since been jailed in England for sexual offenses, including those resulting from his conversation with Kikke.

Defense attorney Ronnie Renucci QC said: “I accept and admit, as she does for that matter, that she has pleaded guilty to very serious charges and, as such, she acknowledges that a prison sentence is inevitable. “

He said Kikke was eager to resolve any issues she might have during her sentence.

Mr Renucci said: “The picture painted is of a somewhat inadequate individual who is now socially isolated. He really is a very lonely figure.

Applicable terms and conditions – Le Paisano

Posted: 19 Oct 2021 07:01 PM PDT

On Monday, October 4, Facebook’s servers, and thereafter everything that relies on those servers, were down for about six hours in total. If you are one of the 2.8 billion Facebook users worldwide, this is certainly not news to you. Facebook came forward amid the outages to say that the problem was not a hack, but that it was in fact self-inflicted; however, for a business with as much weight on its shoulders as Facebook, I don’t know what’s worse.

According to National Public Radio, a routine update sent to Facebook’s network traffic routers failed, sending a wave of errors through Facebook’s servers, including its own internal systems capable of patching and restarting networks. While tech outages have become quite a common occurrence in the digital age, last week’s crash revealed urgent flaws in Facebook’s server configuration.

Instagram and WhatsApp, bought by Facebook in the early 2010s for $ 1 billion and $ 16 billion respectively, play essential roles in communication and commerce across the world. Hundreds of millions of businesses use Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook or a combination of the three as their primary means of doing business, as the apps provide advertising scaffolding, customer relationship network and physical marketplace all in one. By the way, when Facebook crashed it took Instagram and WhatsApp away. The outage lasted nearly six hours, in the middle of the workday. As a result, small businesses on Facebook have reported respective losses ranging from a few hundred to several thousand dollars. Although that number is small compared to the losses of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself, who is sadly now only the sixth richest person in the world.

Social networking is a fundamental part of life in the 21st century, as it enables both intrapersonal and interpersonal communication and provides a platform for personal, group and mass communication. Social media sites like Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and Twitter promote local and e-commerce and allow businesses to engage with their customers on a more personal level. These sites also provide wide access to information, journalism and art, and have proven to be extremely effective in highlighting social justice issues. However, in all its glory, social media has a dark side. We’ve all been lectured about Internet safety growing up, but maybe these are not the "outsiders" on the Internet we should be wary of.

The monopolization of social networking sites could be detrimental to the future of online communication infrastructures. As in any other market, competition is crucial in the rapidly changing digital world. Without it, social networking sites start to overlap and the quality of service decreases, leaving users with fewer choices and more vulnerable to security and privacy threats. Competition encourages innovation, keeps prices reasonable and drives customer satisfaction. In other words, it makes sure that the market is controlled by its consumers.

Social media have become part of our daily life and are therefore able to collect sensitive information about the behavior patterns of each user and their social circle. The more interconnected our networks are, the more information is available for analysis. This material can be extremely powerful, as it can be used to predict behavior both online and offline, and can be used for marketing or even propaganda techniques. Curious what Facebook knows about you? Go to ‘Settings & Privacy’ from the settings menu and find the subsection called ‘Permissions’ – here you can find some of the data that Facebook has collected from your searches, location history, advertising engagement and use of other websites or applications. Whether this information is used for marketing purposes only or not, it’s pretty scary. Maybe it’s time to start reading these terms and conditions?

Online social networks have become the backbone of communication in the 21st century. If Facebook’s monopoly in the social media market persists, consumers will inevitably lose the autonomy they hold in the digital market. After all, if you don’t control the market, it will control you!
